To All CFOA Members - 2/23/16
I recently received an Email from Gary Washam announcing his resignation for personal reasons from the BOD Past President role. You can read his resignation letter below.
It has been a long time since I attended a CFOA meeting and I have not followed through with my offer to develop the policy and procedures manual for CFOA. This is mainly due to my change in work, change in residence and change in personal pursuits since leaving the football field. I have concluded that I will never be going back onto the field again as an official, much as I loved Friday nights with the fans, players and other officials.
My time is almost totally consumed by refurbishing our new home in Mims, running the Florida BBQ Association competition events and implementing their new website and continuing to work part time for Cubic. To make things more stressful, I have been approached by my former boss who wants me to take on more work for her in the simulation industry working for Leidos.
All this adds up to force a decision I have been avoiding for some time. I can no longer support CFOA the way it needs to be supported and in the manner I would like to support it. It is not fair to CFOA for me to keep dragging out this decision and providing mediocre support at best.
Therefore, I am tendering my resignation effective immediately as CFOA Past President and Board Member and terminating my career as a football official.
It was a tremendous pleasure working with everyone at CFOA and on the Board. I wish everyone the best possible future with CFOA and continued growth and improvement to be the best officiating organization in Florida if not the entire Southeast.
